Well.. I’d hope you know by now what a Family Tree is traditionally.. however the software we use is so much more than your typical family tree.
The Online Family tree is a secure way to keep family records, documents, birth death and marriage records, and make access to it secure for the individuals on it that are alive.
Essentially.. all aspects of a person’s interconnected family can be documented and explored. Our website uses PHP to parse and update a GEDCOM database, which is “portable”, which means that if we were to move to a different platform at some date we would still be able to use the data we entered here.
I feel like this site is a necessary addition to the Raymer Family sites, mainly because it’s not just a tree, but a genealogical research tool, and using it I’ve been able to find relationships no one remembered existed, and facts that have been forgotten since before my father was born.
When you log into the page (http://raymerfamilies.com/familytree) you will be greeted to this
click the link, I’ve made some notes to show you what some of these boxes are for, even tho they pretty much explain.
If you look at the picture you will notice that the Latest Birth Year which would show the name of the latest child in our family born.. instead lists “This information is private and cannot be shown.” This is because the image was taken with no user logged in. This is by design.
To see data of those the software considers alive.. you must login. The software considers anyone alive if they meet the following criteria:
#1 They have no date of death listed
#2 The birth date is less than 125 years from today’s date.
Anyone who is considered Dead by meeting these criteria has information available to the general public, this is because those records are typically public anyhow.
