History
The Family Gallery has been around for about 7 years, in the beginning it was a module that ran under PHPNuke and was powered by CopperMine… eventually when the site was reborn I moved to Menalto Gallery and put it under it’s own subdomain.
How to access the gallery.
The gallery is available @ http://gallery.raymerfamilies.com I run other galleries on the site, not all are powered by menalto gallery, some are just in wordpress (an example is the gallery software embedded in Kelly Phillip’s Haven Photography site.)
We are currently running Gallery 3.0.1 (menlo park) and with the gallery you can..
- Upload Pictures
- Upload some videos
- Link to existing videos hosted on other sites.
- Tag faces of people in pictures, much like facebook.
- Share photos and albums here on facebook and twitter.
What doesn’t work *yet*
- Unlike youtube, we aren’t allowed to upload any type of video, you have to prepare it. I’ll write a tutorial on how to do that with windows, but I use Linux and Mac (tutorials will be available for those as well)
- Logins from Facebook or Twitter instead of the Gallery logins, though I’ll integrate when it becomes available.
- In Linux there was a Flash bug that kept the first uploaded image from transferring properly, this may be fixed now but I need to test.
